ARRIVAL, DIRECTIONS & ACCESS
Your villa details
Check your reservation confirmation for your villa’s name, resort or neighbourhood, address and lot number.
Our properties are in several locations, including Coral Estate, Cas Abou Resort, Villa Park Fontein, Harmonie Resort, Blue Bay, Lagun and Brakkeput. Please follow the directions provided for your booked villa.
Your personal access code
Your keybox code and any required gate instructions will be sent shortly before arrival. If you have not received them before check-in, please contact us at info@vanengelenburg.co.
Keep all access codes private and do not share them with others.
Getting to the right property
Before leaving Hato Airport, use Google Maps or Apple Maps to find the resort or neighbourhood listed in your reservation. Check that you have selected the correct destination before setting off.
Some villas are inside private resorts, where individual properties or lot numbers may not appear accurately on public maps. The resort entrance is only the first part of your journey. Once inside, use the lot numbers, internal road signs and directions provided to find your villa.
If you would like a direct location link, please request it a few days before arrival so our team has time to prepare the correct information.
Save your location and arrival instructions before leaving the airport, especially if you will not have mobile internet access.
At the entrance
If there is a security gate, identify yourself using the name on your reservation, your villa’s name and its lot number. Follow the resort’s visitor and access procedures.
Any required gate code will be sent privately.
Once inside, follow the internal road signs and your villa’s arrival instructions. Park only in the designated space, keeping roads, neighbouring driveways and emergency access clear.
For properties without a security gate, follow the arrival instructions provided. Contact the Guest Manager if you cannot find the correct entrance or villa.

CHECK-IN & USING THE KEYBOX
Check-in
Check-in is from 16:00 (4:00 PM).
Most arrivals are contactless, using a keybox usually located near the front door.
The exact location and access procedure vary by property. Please follow the instructions sent for your villa.
Early check-in
Cleaning is scheduled for your arrival day, so early check-in cannot be guaranteed in advance.
You are welcome to check whether the villa is ready when you arrive. If the cleaning team is still working, you may leave your luggage safely at the house and head out for groceries or explore the area until the villa is ready.
Please allow the team to finish preparing your villa before settling in.
Using the keybox
Keybox models vary. Always follow the instructions provided for your villa.
For a keybox with CLEAR and OPEN controls:
-
Slide CLEAR down once and release it.
-
Enter the code you received, then hold OPEN down and remove the lid.
-
Take the key. If your model requires it, clear and re-enter the code before closing the box.
-
Hold OPEN down while replacing the lid, then release it.
-
Check that the lid is securely closed.
Use these steps only for a keybox with the labelled controls described above. Code lengths and opening procedures vary between models.
If the keybox will not open, contact the Guest Manager. Please do not force it.
CHECK-OUT & LOST PROPERTY
Check-out
Check-out is by 10:00 AM.
Please leave by this time so our cleaning team can prepare the villa for the next guests.
Late check-out
Because of our fixed cleaning schedule, late check-out is rarely possible and must be approved in advance.
To request late check-out, contact the Guest Manager on WhatsApp at +599 9 520 2926. Please allow up to 24 hours for a reply.
An additional fee may apply. Any fee will be confirmed when your request is reviewed.
Until you receive approval, the standard check-out time of 10:00 AM applies.
Before you leave
Please complete the following before departure:
-
Switch off the air conditioning in every room.
-
Where a dishwasher is provided, load any dirty dishes and start it.
-
Take indoor rubbish to the designated outdoor container.
-
Hang wet towels to dry and place other laundry in the laundry basket.
-
Leave the BBQ clean.
-
Sign out of your personal streaming accounts.
-
Check cupboards, drawers, the safe and charging sockets for belongings.
-
Secure all doors, windows and gates.
-
Return the keys as instructed for your villa and check that the keybox is securely closed.
If our team cannot meet you in person, follow the key-return instructions provided for your property. This usually means returning the keys to the keybox near the front door.
Lost property
If you leave something behind, please contact the Guest Manager so we can check the property.
If your item is found, we can arrange to send it to you at your expense. Charges include shipping, packaging and a service fee. We will confirm the total cost before arranging shipment.
Please check every room carefully before departure to make sure you have all your belongings.

Air conditioning: included hours, daytime use & charges
Air conditioning is provided in the bedrooms. A few selected villas also have air conditioning in the living room.
Your rental includes 15 hours of air-conditioning use per day, per bedroom. How you can use these hours depends on the system installed in your villa.
Villas with an automatic timer
Most properties have a system that allows bedroom air conditioning to operate only between 7:00 PM and 10:00 AM (19:00–10:00).
At these properties, the included hours are fixed and cannot be moved to another part of the day.
To use the air conditioning between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM (10:00–19:00), contact the Guest Manager in advance to arrange daytime access and the required deposit.
Villas without an automatic timer
Some properties allow you to switch on the air conditioning at any time, using a wall button or remote control.
At these properties, you must monitor your own use and stay within the included 15 hours per day, per bedroom. Daytime use counts towards these hours, so reduce your overnight use accordingly.
Being able to switch on the air conditioning at any time does not mean unlimited use is included. Additional usage will be calculated after checkout and deducted from your deposit.
Living-room air conditioning
Where living-room air conditioning is available, use it carefully and follow the instructions provided for your villa. Its availability does not mean unlimited use is included, and additional consumption may be charged.
In some villas, living-room air conditioning is switched off and can only be activated after a separate deposit has been paid. Contact the Guest Manager to confirm availability, the applicable allowance and any required deposit before use.
Additional daytime use and charges
For additional daytime air conditioning, the following arrangement applies:
-
Deposit: US$70 per day.
-
Minimum charge: US$35 per day.
-
Overnight energy allowance: 50 kWh per day.
-
Additional daytime allowance: 70 kWh per day.
-
Usage above the applicable allowances: US$0.50 per kWh.
The included operating hours and energy allowances are separate parts of this policy. Please contact the Guest Manager if you are unsure which system
your villa has, which allowances apply to your booking or how additional consumption is calculated.
Consumption is calculated after checkout. Any refundable balance of the daytime air-conditioning deposit is returned within 10 working days.
Air Conditioning: Controls, Comfort & Help
How to switch on: villa with a wall button
Many properties use a Shelly or similar wall-button system.
-
During the included hours, or after daytime access has been arranged, press the bedroom wall button once.
-
When the button turns green, the air conditioner will beep and start.
-
Use the normal remote control to adjust the settings.
Once daytime access has been activated, use the button and remote as usual.
Villa without a wall button
Use the remote control and follow the instructions inside the villa.
The included hours remain 19:00–10:00. Arrange daytime use with the Guest Manager first.
Comfort and responsible use
Set the temperature to 24°C or higher; 24–26°C is recommended. Select cooling mode if needed, normally shown by a snowflake symbol on the remote.
Keep bedroom doors and windows closed while the unit is running.
Switch off the air conditioner when leaving the house.
The living room and kitchen are designed for natural ventilation where the property layout allows.
Air conditioning not working?
First check that you are within the included hours or have arranged daytime access.
If the wall button is red or the unit does not respond, use only the clearly labelled AC breakers that you can identify.
Switch them off for 10 seconds, then on. Wait 1–2 minutes and try the button and remote again.
If you are unsure which breakers to use, or the problem continues, contact the Guest Manager. Do not open electrical panels or attempt electrical repairs.

Wi-Fi, Television & Sound System
Wi-Fi
In most villas, the Wi-Fi password is abcd1234.
If this does not work, use the network name and password listed inside your villa, on the information display or on the modem.
Use the details for your own property, select the network in your device settings and enter the password exactly as shown.
If the connection does not work, check the displayed details and contact the Guest Manager.
Do not reset the modem or other network equipment to factory settings.
Television and sound system
Equipment varies between homes. Use the remotes provided, usually in the living room.
Streaming, casting and sound-system options depend on the equipment and any personal subscription required.
Please use the equipment carefully and do not change installation or system settings.
Sign out of personal streaming accounts before departure.
Kitchen Appliances, Laundry & Hot Water
Coffee and kitchen appliances
Coffee is provided for the first few days of your stay.
Coffee-machine types differ between villas. If you need to know which type is available before arrival, ask the Guest Manager.
Follow any instructions provided with kitchen appliances. Please report faults rather than attempting repairs yourself.
Washing machine and laundry
Where a washing machine is provided, you may use it during your stay. Extra detergent can be bought at a supermarket.
Wait until the programme has finished and the door has unlocked before opening it. Never force the door.
Dryer availability differs between properties. Do not assume that a dryer is provided.
For longer stays, we recommend washing towels and bed linen weekly or asking the Guest Manager to arrange a cleaning and laundry service for an additional fee.
Hot water
Test shower and tap temperatures carefully, as the water can be very hot. Supervise children around hot taps.
Contact the Guest Manager if the hot-water system is not working as expected.

HOUSE RULES, CLEANING & WASTE
Care for your island home
You are staying in a privately owned home. Please treat the property, furnishings and inventory with care.
Tell us promptly about damage, faults or anything that is not working so we have the opportunity to assist.
Keep to the number of guests confirmed in your reservation. Do not bring extra beds or add overnight guests without written agreement.
Only registered guests may stay at the property. Follow the resort’s visitor-registration rules and ask our team before inviting visitors.
Neighbours and quiet hours
Please respect neighbours and keep noise down from 22:00.
Follow any additional quiet hours or stricter rules at your resort, including a morning quiet period where applicable.
Parties, events and gatherings are not permitted without prior written approval from our team and any approval required by the resort.
A catering or decoration booking does not itself give permission to hold an event.
Smoking, drugs and pets
Smoking is permitted outside only.
Use the ashtrays provided, fully extinguish cigarettes and dispose of cigarette ends safely. Never throw them into the garden or use walls or floor tiles to put them out.
Dry and windy conditions increase fire risk.
Drugs are not permitted in or around the property.
Pets are not allowed unless approved in writing before the stay.
Privacy, drones and security
Respect neighbouring properties and privacy.
Drone use requires the necessary written authorisation from resort management and any relevant authorities. Follow the restrictions for your own resort.
Do not rearrange or remove furniture or take inventory away from the property.
Secure doors, windows and gates when leaving. Switch off air conditioning when going out.
Everyday housekeeping
The villa is prepared clean and fresh for your arrival. Please carry out normal day-to-day cleaning and keep food covered or stored securely to discourage insects.
Remove kitchen rubbish daily. Put waste into bags before placing it in the designated outdoor container.
Many villas have a green container, but the correct container, collection day and collection procedure depend on the property. Ask the Guest Manager if these details are unclear.
Do not assume that every villa has the same collection schedule. Where our team moves a container to the collection point, please keep it accessible.
Flush toilet paper only. Do not flush wipes, sanitary products or other items, as they can block the system.
Dry wet floors promptly. Tiles can become slippery, especially after swimming or rain.
Extra cleaning and linen
Mid-stay cleaning and additional laundry services can be arranged for an additional fee. Contact the Guest Manager to discuss availability and pricing.
Final cleaning is included, but please leave the villa in a reasonable condition. Excessive cleaning or a dirty BBQ may result in an additional charge under the terms of your booking.
Unopened food and drinks that you do not wish to take home may be left in the refrigerator at checkout for our housekeeping team.
POOL, GARDEN, BBQ & OUTDOOR LIVING
Swimming pool
Where a private pool is provided, it is normally serviced weekly. Pool maintenance may take place during your stay.
Do not add chemicals, change pump settings or adjust pool equipment yourself.
Pool pumps run for scheduled periods each day. Pool lights may work on a timer or a switch, depending on the property. Ask the Guest Manager about your villa’s system.
There is no lifeguard. Supervise children closely whenever they are near water and use the pool responsibly.
Keep glass away from the pool.
Do not rinse diving equipment in the pool. Use designated rinse facilities or ask our team where equipment can be rinsed.
If the water changes colour, becomes cloudy or looks unusual after heavy rain, contact the Guest Manager before swimming.
Garden and outdoor furniture
Gardens are maintained regularly. Please do not cut, remove or damage plants or trees.
Use a towel on loungers, cushions and outdoor furniture after swimming, showering or applying sunscreen or oil. This helps protect the fabric and furniture.
BBQ
Use the BBQ in its designated position and take care with hot coals, dry vegetation and wind. Do not move it to an unsuitable location.
Check the gas supply during the day if you plan to barbecue. Replacement gas bottles cannot be delivered in the evening and will be brought the next day.
Clean the BBQ after every use and leave it clean at checkout.

WATER, ELECTRICITY & SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS
Drinking water
Curaçao’s tap water is produced from desalinated seawater and is generally safe to drink. Follow any temporary advisory from the provider or our team.
Water from the tap may feel warm. Keep a bottle in the refrigerator if you prefer it chilled.
Please avoid unnecessary water use.
Electricity and plugs
You may encounter 110–130V outlets and, in some properties, 220V outlets.
Check the outlet and your device rating before connecting equipment. A plug adapter changes the plug shape; it does not convert voltage.
Ask the Guest Manager if you are unsure which outlet is suitable. Please use electricity responsibly.
No running water or a leak
Some villas have a safety device that stops the water after prolonged continuous use.
If your villa has one, ask the Guest Manager to identify the device and explain the reset. Use a blue reset button only when the correct device and procedure have been confirmed for your property.
If you notice a leak, contact the Guest Manager promptly.
Close the main water valve only if you can identify it safely and have been shown which valve to use.
Power, water and internet outages
Service interruptions occasionally occur in Curaçao and can be outside our team’s control.
Electricity can fail in only part of a house when one or more supply phases are affected. Some lights, outlets or appliances may still work while others do not. Air conditioning may work in one bedroom but not another.
A complete outage can also affect the whole property.
Providers do not always give an exact restoration time. In most cases, service returns once the provider has resolved the issue. The same applies to water and internet interruptions.
If surrounding homes have service again but your villa does not, contact the Guest Manager so we can check whether the problem is still general or specific to the property.
Do not tamper with meters or attempt electrical repairs. Report any dangerous situation immediately.

Elisa can discuss in-house dining, catering, food, snacks and celebration arrangements. Mention that you are staying in a property rented through Van Engelenburg Villas & More.

If Elisa cannot accommodate your catering request, you may contact:

If you are looking specifically for a private chef, ask our team about an evening in-house dining experience, for example a three- to five-course dinner.

Road essentials
Drive on the right and carry a valid driving licence.
Follow posted speed limits, stop signs and yield signs. Typical limits are 40 km/h in built-up areas and 60–80 km/h on some roads outside them, but the signs on the road determine the applicable limit.
Slow down at unfamiliar intersections and roundabouts. Follow the posted priority rules.
At unmarked intersections, traffic from the right normally has priority; at T-junctions, traffic on the through road has priority.
Roads can become slippery in the rain. Allow extra stopping distance and watch for pedestrians.

Many fuel stations require payment before filling.
Confirm the correct fuel with your rental company and the pump label rather than relying on handle colours.

EVERYDAY ISLAND INFORMATION
Money and payments
The local currency is the Caribbean guilder, written Cg or XCG. It replaced the Netherlands Antillean guilder in 2025.
US dollars are widely accepted; change may be given in local currency. Euros are generally exchanged rather than used for everyday payments.
ATMs are available around the island. Check withdrawal and conversion fees with your bank.
Keep some small cash for tips and smaller purchases. Confirm the currency when discussing a price.
Phones and internet
The international dialling prefix for Curaçao is +599 9.
Local numbers usually have seven digits; short service and emergency numbers differ.
WhatsApp requires an internet connection. Check your provider’s roaming charges and keep your arrival information available offline if needed.
Language and local customs
Papiamentu is widely spoken, alongside Dutch, English and Spanish.
Bon bini means welcome; danki means thank you.
Wear light clothing and sun protection. Cover up when leaving the beach or pool, especially when visiting shops and supermarkets.
Be considerate of neighbours and the pace of island life.
Weather
Curaçao is warm throughout the year, with an average temperature around 27°C.
October to December are generally the wettest months; showers can be brief and very local.
Take drinking water when going out and use sun protection.
The island lies outside the main hurricane belt, but poor weather and rough seas can still occur. Follow official weather warnings, operator advice and instructions from our team.
During severe weather, follow official shelter instructions, keep away from exposed windows and do not travel or go onto the water when advised against it.
Ask the Guest Manager if you need help finding current information.
Nature and island conditions
Insects, humidity, birds, iguanas and other wildlife are part of a tropical island environment.
Keep food covered, close screens where fitted and do not feed wild animals. Contact our team if you have a concern at the villa.
Gardening, pool care, maintenance, nearby construction and roadworks may take place during your stay. Report concerns to our team so we can assess the situation and assist where possible.
Do not remove plants, coral or other natural items. Check customs and conservation rules before taking any natural item home.
Stay on paths and take your rubbish with you.
Flight information
Check your airline and Hato Airport’s current flight information for departures, arrivals and delays.
Arrange transport with enough time for your airline’s check-in requirements.
YOUR BOOKING, PAYMENTS & FEEDBACK

The remaining balance is due at least 30 days before arrival, unless agreed otherwise in writing.

If your booking was made through a platform or under different written terms, check that confirmation or contact our team about the schedule that applies.
