Amazing Vacation!

 5 of 5

The villa itself is just as pictured but the views are unbelievable and no pictures can do them justice! We chose to vacation in Curacao simply because of this villa and we had an unforgettable time.

Our daily routine was waking up and opening the house then drinking coffee by the pool before getting in it, followed by lounging on the chairs. After a relaxing morning, we either made breakfast in the first-class kitchen or made the very quick drive (you can walk, if you want) down to Karakter for breakfast. After breakfast, our favorite spot was Playa Porto Mari. A BEAUTIFUL beach with the blue-est water we've ever seen that also had a fantastic restaurant/bar. We did drive into Punda one afternoon and visited the must-see waterfront, BUT most of our time was spent at the beach. We ate at just a couple of other places, aside from Karakter (favorite), that included: Daniel Landhuis and Eetcafe De Buurvrouw - both no more than a 10 minute drive from the villa. Sunsets at the villa are a must.

We recommend bringing bug spray and plenty of sunscreen (both of which were also found at the villa, in case you forget). There were lots of nats/mosquitos but it was expected and the bug spray generally took care of them. The property manager was a HUGE help (Andreas). He gave us fantastic advice on how we should best use our time. Something we didn't do that I would recommend is scheduling a massage at the spa (right next to Karakter and on the water!). The spa looked beautiful and the massages are a very reasonable price - by the time we decided to get one, it was too late.

The villa is located in Coral Estates - an "exclusive" community that is very secure and offers great food and unbelievable views.

We hope future renters have as great of a stay as we did.

YOU MUST RENT THIS VILLA!

  • Great villa! 5 of 5

Thank you for letting stay at your Villa.

The Villa is a fantastic place to spend a LONG time, the view is stunning, we loved the sound of the waves, the pool is nice and the whole area is nice and well kept.

Minor issues; the oven is placet rather high up for most people, it's a high tech oven with build in micro - cool.

The Grand children would have loved the dolphin at the pool to blow water.

And what bothered the children most was the mosquitos - bring or buy an effective repellent it's needed morning and evenings. Close your room at all times to keep them out.

We do not want to go home, but have to.

The private beach with free axcess, Cas Abou Beach, is fantastic and Brigittes B-Diving is the place to go if you wish professionell help with all diving issues.

We can recoment the Villa and do not miss the beach.

Best Regards Lars, Harriett with children and grandchildren

Private Paradise!

 5 of 5

We chose this home for the beauty, and peace and quiet, afforded by this part of the island; we were NOT disappointed. The view took my breath away, each and every morning, as we had coffee/breakfast on the patio. Crystal clear waters, with only the occasional fisherman and perhaps the random snorkeler/diver, to distract from beauty of the ocean. Sunsets from the pool, literal paradise. Watching the flamingos troll for food in the Saltans, also amazing. The house is large and the rooms are set-up in ways that afford privacy and space, which on a long vacation, is SO nice. Cas Abao beach is delightful and access is free. Willemstead and Jan Theil are about a 30-40 minute drive, BUT the house is very close to some of the islands' most beautiful beaches including the knipps, playa porto marie, and playa lagun and Christoffel Mountain. I absolutely recommend this property. It is noteworthy that amenities, in my experience, that are typically included through VRBO/AIRBNB type rentals such as shampoo, conditioner, body soap, etc. are not provided. Dish soap, papertowels, tolietpaper etc. are provided to get you started. The kitchen is large and easy to use, with plenty of towels, dishes, and pots and pans provided; however, spices, herbs, olive oil, etc, need to be purchased. I would definitely stay here again!

Great Villa, with wonderful sea views & superb bird watching

 5 of 5

Our stay in Villa Barbulete was really great. The house is in 1st-rate condition & is very clean. Open the sliding doors, the upstairs gets a steady sea breeze & the bedroom AC works great for sleep. The villa has both US 115V & Euro 240V outlets, so no transformers/adapters needed. The kitchen is well-appointed, with a big GE side by side refrigerator, a 5 burner gas cooktop, an oven & a Miele dishwasher. Note- the oven is mounted quite high in the cabinet & my petite wife had a hard time getting hot items out of the oven! The Dutch are supposed to be the tallest people in the world, so maybe that explains the oven height (LOL). Not a big deal, but since the kitchen lacks a toaster, we ended broiling bread to make toast, just FYI. If you plan to cook, the spices/herbs on hand in the kitchen are limited, so plan ahead. Coffee filters & sugar were provided, so you can skip those items when you stop at Centrum supermarket (very nice) in Willemstad after leaving the airport to buy groceries (highly recommended that you shop on the way, Cas Abao is about 25-30 minutes by car to the market).

The manager, Andreas, met us promptly on our arrival day & gave us a nice briefing on the villa, plus he answered any questions we had about Curacao. In addition, the villa has several "house binders" which are well laid out with a lot of info about the villa & the island.

The pool & nearby palapa (palm gazebo) were the highlight of the house for us- spectacular sea views/sunsets, plus lots of bird watching- flamingos grazing in the salt pans, lots of hummingbirds, parrots, turpials & a host of other tropical birds.

Playa Cas Abao is a winner, free access for renters was a big plus- it allowed us to hit the beach for half a day without worrying about getting our money's worth from the fee! Note- you need to explain you are renting Villa #43 to the gate keepers, the concept seemed perplexing to some guys! Superb snorkeling (left side wall!) & scuba (B Diving shop on the beach was great). The beachfront restaurant has decent food/drinks. Note- the dive shop closes at 5PM & the beach entrance at 6PM, before sunset, but you can stay on the beach after closing time. Unlike some beaches, Cas Abao parking has security. The resort's private beach near the entrance to the housing is ideal for snorkel/scuba but has limited appeal as a beach itself (narrow, no amenities, not sandy).

Excuse the very long post, but Villa Barbulete is a great rental, you can't go wrong.

A property that exceeded my expectations!!

5 Of 5.

The incredibly beautiful pictures of this property are 100% accurate. What you see is what you get and it's an amazing experience living there. What the pictures can't convey is the perfect temperature and gentle Caribbean breeze that made it so easy to relax and to sleep. The house and pool were spotless upon our arrival and we had arranged with Andreas to have some food and coffee, etc. already there upon our arrival and that helped to make a seamless transition from traveling to vacationing. The hospitality team of Andreas, Edsel and Jenny made our stay extraordinary! When we arrived the first night, our plane was over an hour delayed and the rental car company was closed. We were able to get a cab to Coral Estates but then we were there the next morning with no working phones and no car to get around. Andreas rescued us by calling and communicating with the rental company and arranging for us to pick up the car that day. He then helped us to find a grocery store, an in-island phone company, A nearby beach to check out, etc. It can be daunting to be in an environment that is foreign to you and having people to help you there makes all the difference. In addition to Andreas' help, I highly recommend availing yourself of the hospitality services of "Delighted to Serve You" by Jenny Ignacio and her husband Edsel. Their help with babysitting (when we needed a break from my 3 year old grandson), a delicious dinner prepared at the house, and an informative tour of the Island were just a few of the ways their help and kindness created wonderful memories that we will cherish always.

We stayed 3 weeks and during that time, my daughter was able to get her diving certification that will be good for the rest of her life. We spent many days at a nearby beach called Porto Mari where she took diving instruction from Wendy and Peter. It was so nice to spend all day at the beach and then return to this amazing villa where we could swim in the pool and watch the sunset.

I whole-heartedly recommend this property and the wonderful people connected to it. Curacao is a lovely place with friendly people and so much to do. We will definitely be back.

Best Value Ever

5 Of 5.

We stayed at Van Engelenburg - Villas & More, for the last two weeks and had a wonderful time. The villa, the community and Curacao in general met every one of our expectations. The villa and the views were exactly as shown in the web-site pictures - spectacular. Tom was very helpful making all the arrangements and everything was as he said it would be. Andreas, the property manager, was also very helpful during the orientation session and the few occasions we needed help. Andreas also organized a car rental which was waiting for us at the villa when we arrived.

The villa itself made us feel like we were in a James Bond movie. It is hard to believe we actually lived in a place like that for two weeks. We did most of our own cooking and the kitchen was a delight to work in. We have experienced a total of nine VRBO/HOME AWAY rentals over the last number of years and we can honestly say the kitchen was the best equipped of them all.

We enjoyed Karakter a few times and the food, drinks and ambiance were top-notch. Centrum Super Market was our main stopping place for groceries and it was located only 20 minutes away. Several mini markets were located within 10 minutes of the villa.

Yes we met the iguanas - we called them Iggy and Issy. We had some fun trying to change them of their habits but they always seemed to win. It was not a big issue for us. During our stay there were very few bugs but we were able to minimize them by keeping the villa open to let the wind blow them away.

Would we go back - DEFINITELY! Seriously thinking about a return for Christmas 2017.

Another wonderful stay

5 Of 5.

As the title indicates, it was another wonderful stay at Van Engelenburg - Villas & More, Curacao. This was our third visit and opening that front door and seeing the view, still took our breath away. The property was meticulously maintained as always.A return visit does offer some knowledge of the house, but the instructions make even a first-time visitor comfortable right away. Many thank to Tom and Andreas for making our visit so relaxed and enjoyable.

Amazing villa for a perfect vacation

5 Of 5.

We stayed at this beautiful home in the middle of August 2015 and all agreed that the online pictures perfectly represent what you will see once you start your vacation in this dream home.

From the moment you enter, you will be awed by the breathtaking ocean views. Outside we really enjoy the pool. Inside the home was beautifully decorated and meticulously maintained.

Andreas, the home manager, was so helpful prior to our arrival in lining up transporation for the duration of our stay. Upon arrival, he met us at the villa, and throughout the week, made certain that all our requests were met.

We also enjoyed local restauratnts including, Karakter and many others. The beaches in the neighborhood (Casa Abou, Porto Marie, Kleine en Grote Knip, Laguna ) are breath taking.

Is a true professional, and a delight to deal with. He responded in a very timely manner to each inquiry and request.

The wi-fi connection is fast and can be used to stream. I would definitely recommend a rental car as the property is roughly 10-20 minutes from supermarkets/town. I would not hesitate to return to Curacao and this amazing villa.

Beautiful views; beautiful villa

5 Of 5.

This was an amazing place to stay! The information provided prior to the trip made the whole arrival and check-in process very simple. With the detailed directions provided, it was pretty easy to find the property even arriving after dark. A couple pieces of furniture have changed, but the pictures are otherwise very accurate to the experience. The house was beautiful and very clean. The kitchen had everything we needed to make our own meals when we wanted to do so. The property manager, Andreas, was very helpful and it was easy to work with him. We opted to have someone make dinner for us one evening and Andreas also arranged that. Jenny and Edsel made the best meal we had all week, and made us feel very comfortable. While it's always warm in Curacao, the breezes through the house made it comfortable at any time of day. The pool was also very clean and provided a quick option to cool off if you'd been out in the sun. We were only there for a week, but the location was easy driving distance from everything - beaches, grocery stores, restaurants, national parks, etc. (It's not a very big island, after all.) We'd highly recommend the villa to anyone.

Open air concept & views were enjoyed TREMENDOUSLY

5 Of 5.

We returned home today from our memorable trip to Curaçao. I just wanted to send you a quick note to tell you how much we enjoyed the island and your house!!! Andreas was helpful and we loved staying in a secluded area. We did explore the island though...Westpunt, Shete Boka, Willemstad, the Dolphin Academy, Kura Hulanda museum, many private beaches wher we snorkeled and dived, Karakter, Baoase resort, Jan Thiel. We were all over! My 10 year old daughter even experienced her first dive with Divers Republic. They were great! Curaçao is certainly a special place. The house was always a relaxing retreat after an adventurous day. The open air concept and views from the pool were enjoyed tremendously! Thank you! We hope to return soon.

Undoubtedly the most LUXURIOUS & IMPRESSIVE VILLA!

5 Of 5.

My wife and I stayed at this beautiful home in early January. There are no words to describe how amazing this place actually is! Very open floor plan. I would recommend staying in the property for friends and family get together's. It has plenty of amenities for all different tastes and ages.

The best beaches on the island are all in the area (actually right down the road). The water is crystal clear and felt so amazing.

Andreas, the property manager is so "on it!" He is the best!! Andreas, is very personable, and attentive to the needs of anyone staying in this home and he made our stay very comfortable. He was very resourceful and helpful throughout the entire experience. Andreas was wonderful to work with and eager to accommodate our pre-arrival requests. He helped to make our vacation so wonderful and definitely in our top 3 of vacations spots!!! Thank you!!

I would whole-heartedly recommend this home to anyone traveling to Curacao. It is undoubtedly the most luxurious and impressive vacation home we've ever stayed in. We will return someday, and recreate our wonderful stay in this home.

With great sadness to leave,

Martha and John

The villa is a stunning property.!

5 Of 5.

The villa is a stunning property. The simple elegance of the home and the uncluttered yet comfortable furnishings provided a beautiful setting for our two

week vacation. Walking through the giant front door never lost its magic. The gentle sea breezes, the sounds of the birds and the spectacular view of the

ocean were enjoyed from inside the villa, on the large patio and in the infinity pool.

The villa is very well equipped and maintained. Andreas, the property manager was friendly, attentive and he made settling in very easy.

Thank-you for sharing this beautiful space.

**Incredibly peaceful and relaxing experience!**

5 Of 5.

My wife and I absolutely loved our vacation time at the Villa in Curacao!

It was an incredibly peaceful and relaxing experience made possible by this beautiful Villa and amazing location.

We loved being able to open up almost the entire wall of the Villa and allowing the outside space with pool blend together with the inside space with no concerns about mosquitoes or other bugs. It offered an island experience like no other.

The location was also perfectly situated on the island for easy access to Willemstad, and also the best beaches, snorkeling and diving that the island has to offer.

Property Manager Andreas were amazing. Always available to help with any questions we might have had about the Villa or the Island itself.

Andreas truly made our Curacao experience perfect.

We would recommend this Villa to anyone thinking of visiting Curacao.

Thanks again for sharing your vacation home with us!

AMAZING - no need to stay anywhere else on Curacao

5 Of 5.

This was our 2nd time staying at Van Engelenburg - Villas & More, and this trip was even more memorable than the last. Everything from the initial booking to checking out surpassed all of our expectations. The pictures of the property and the views do not do it justice. At the first moment that the huge front doors open, you will need a moment to take it all in...trust me. The property itself is very spacious...there were six of us total in the group, and we all felt like we had more than enough space.

If you can find yourself able to leave, the island itself is one of my favorite places to travel on earth. I love the location of this house, as you can turn right and end up in Willemstad and its pastel Dutch architecture. Head right, and you will find yourself in Westpunt with its dramatic cliffs and very laid back feel. We also finally made it to the nearby beach (Playa PortoMari)...don't miss it! It is probably the best beach we've been to on Curacao. For days we wanted something closer, Karakter is a great amenity. It is a beach bar/restaurant within walking distance. They also rent scuba and snorkel gear. Another great local place to check out is Williwood. Great atmosphere, and great gift shop!

We try and come to Curacao once a year, and love this house so much we will probably plan our trip around its availability!

The *best* property + community on Curacao

5 Of 5.

The villa, the Coral Estates community, Karakter Beach Club and Restaurants - these are the BEST that Curacao has to offer in the luxury vacation rental market. The villa is gorgeous and is even more stunning than the photographs. We spent several of our days just lounging about and swimming in the infinity pool totally entranced by the 180 degree ocean views. The community is upscale, quiet, peaceful, and secure (with a manned guard station to enter/exit). We rarely even heard/saw another person and the villa is very private due to lush vegetation, despite having close neighbors. Our original plans included a lot of island exploring, but we found it more enjoyable to relax at home and visit the beach and restaurant at Karakter.

The food at Karakter is LEGIT. Whole cooked lionfish, steak tartar, tuna nicoise, and a tasty amuse bouche every night with dinner. I've heard that Caribbean food is pretty poor, but this was outstanding even by standards of major U.S. cities. Very heavy European and Dutch influences. And you can even have lunch/tapas served to you while you lounge under a palapa at the beach. How fabulous! Rent snorkel equipment at the dive shop and see tropical fish right at the beach. We found it more convenient to drive there and loved that it's less than 5min and within the secure, gated community of Coral Estates. Definitely a huge perk that accompanies the villa.

Two comfort concerns to note: We stayed during the rainy season and found that the mosquitoes and gnats were very bothersome in the early morning and evening unless we lit several coils and candles (some provided at the house, we bought extra). Also, in the afternoon between 2:00-5:00pm the position of the sun would point directly into the villa and make things very hot at the house, even with all the doors and windows open to allow breezes. We found that this was the perfect time for a nap in the air-conditioned bedroom or a trip to Centrum Supermarket before dinner (highly recommend Centrum). These were both minor inconveniences, and wouldn't stop me from booking this villa again.

We visited the Baoase Resort for dinner one night and the Marriott resort to check out the casino. SO GLAD we opted for this luxury villa instead of a resort for our honeymoon. The beaches on the west side are better, Karakter is the bomb, total privacy and serenity at the villa. If you're coming to Curacao, just stop looking and book this house now.

As Amazing As Advertised !

5 Of 5.

Our stay here was everything that was described and more - the panoramic views out over the bright blue water were amazing. Operable glass walls opened around the entire house bringing the outside in and extending the living space the pools edge. The hilltop tradewinds kept the day very comfortable and the evenings surprisingly cool. All of the details were attended to: super-clean, attentive contact person, concierge support with groceries, poolside massage, diving recommendations all within a private/secure gated community. The beach is easily accessed and supported with a great dive shop and oceanside restaurant / bar with very attentive beachside chair service. Below the property, we snorkeled everyday finding countless fish, corals, turtles, eels, lionfish, etc. The property was on the quiet side of the island which was great - with wild Parakeets, Yellow Finches, Yellow Warblers, "Resident" Pelican, Orange Troupilas and more chirping and visiting all day long. This was our first time to Curacao and it was very laid back, easy to get around and easy enough to see the whole island in a week - We did ! - just follow the "blue signs." The Northeast coast was dry, rugged and mountainous while the Southwest coast was developed, resort oriented and luxurious. All in All - AMAZING with a lot of time lounging in the pool at the infinity edge watching the sunset .

We are immediately ready to go back.
